Again?, 2018

Paper

Dimensions Varied

Again? is an installation piece that exhibits screen printed Canadian governmental immigration and refugee forms used to sponsor refugees' entry into Canada. My experience as a translator for some Syrian Refugees during the influx of Refugees to Canada, allowed me to experience some of the inherent cruelty of bureaucracy and the fact that every time I had to ask the refugees to tell me their narrative in order to fill these forms out, I was also asking them to relive their trauma. This piece invites the interaction of the audience either in the form of filling out the prints or taking one home with them thus carrying the burden of the untold story.
