Circulating Thought, 2016

Wood, Custom Electronics

6ftx3ft

Circulating Thought is a kinetic sculpture that spells out the sentence “Some days I can’t get out of bed” The piece alludes to the thought of someone who suffers from mental illness. The notion of being unable to perform the simple act of getting out of bed in the morning is a constant struggle for many people. Similar to mental illness, at times it feels

like the simplest tasks are performed by a very small power source thus becoming that much harder to perform and finish. The constant rotation refers to the repetitive narration of the thought in one’s head when they are struggling to get out of bed.
