Same Old, Same Old, 2017

Paper

Dimensions Variable

Same Old, Same Old is a set of litho prints featuring a drawing appropriated from some satirical drawings from the suffrage movement in the 1940s. The old drawing illustrated the different men commenting about the uselessness of the protests by the woman protesting. The new prints, however, erased these comments and borrowed different tweets or youtube comments written by men on social media in regards to the Women's March. The prints show that regardless of the time in place and although we might believe that we have come a long way in terms of women's rights, the truth is that little has changed. As you move from right to left, the female narrative becomes more apparent and more explicit yet does not fully hide the constant belittling from the audience. The ways sexism demonstrates itself has changed and developed but has not been erased.
